A capillary tube is a very thin tube made of rigid material, such as plastic or glass. The tubes are used to collect liquid samples that will flow up into the tubes against the effects of gravity in a process called capillary action.

The main aim of the capillary tube is to reduce pressure, and is often used in laboratories to collect the different samples of liquid.

It is also used to check concentrations, molarity, molality, etc.
